I love this backpack so much!
It’s spacious but not too big, a great balance of size and function. The materials feel so nice and the look is very sleek. The organization smart and practical.
To top it all off, it’s one of the most comfortable backpacks I’ve ever owned.
The Rework Toshi Backpack continues to impress after several days of real-world testing across various settings—from campus work to beach trips to family outings. The bag strikes an excellent balance in nearly every aspect: bottle pockets that fold flat when not needed, three well-designed quick-access pockets (including a particularly clever bottom double-sided pocket for items like sunglasses), and a vertically-oriented laptop compartment that’s spacious without feeling like carrying a plank. While there are minor quibbles—a slightly floppy laptop sleeve, occasional zipper confusion at the clamshell junction, and a few loose threads—these don’t detract from what is fundamentally a well-executed design. The bag stands on its own when packed strategically and features minimal exterior branding for a clean aesthetic.
What makes the Toshi “just right” is its straightforward approach to premium carry without gimmicks or overengineering. At around $190 (even better with pre-order pricing), it competes favorably with pricier alternatives like the Aer CPP and Evergoods CPL24, matching or surpassing them in usability and design while maintaining excellent build quality and responsive customer service from the founding siblings. The pack evokes the simplicity of classic Timbuk2 and North Face bags while delivering modern premium performance, proving that sometimes the best design philosophy is one that simply works as intended without requiring users to compromise or adapt to a designer’s particular vision of how carry should function.
I've used this backpack for commuting, going around the city, and travel as a personal item, and it's checked off so many boxes in all of those circumstances. The self-standing feature, while not 100% perfect, is quite good. I love the front admin pocket and how much it can store, and the bag easily adapts from carrying just a few items to holding multiple laptops and tech items. It's slightly smaller than I would have liked in general (like so many others a 24-26L would be great), but this does fit/compresses within smaller personal item size requirements so that is a benefit of being this size. The ambidextrous pocket is useful, although it is limited in what it can carry because it is not very big. Overall, this backpack does a great job at being just right for just about any situation.
I just love my new Toshi Pack 20L It looks very smart, is well designed and sits high up on my back making it feel light on my shoulders. It's ideal for everyday office use or if going to a meeting with enough room for my gym kit too. The various compartments are well thought out making it easy to access the things I hangs up very nicely from a hook on my bedroom door instead of lying around on the floor. I expect to use it on my next holiday as a cabin bag too which I think it just about the size.
I’ve been using this backpack for about a month, and it has met nearly all of my needs: dual side pockets, a thick and soft handle and shoulder straps, a detachable sternum strap, and an internal layout with a decent number of compartments and pockets—more than enough for commuting. When packed properly, the backpack can also stand upright on its own, which is a nice touch.
The only drawback is that the strap adjusters don’t seem to hold the shoulder straps securely in place—they tend to slip, requiring me to readjust the length frequently.
Overall, a great backpack with just a small issue. I’d rate it 4.5 stars.
Just the right amount of space and organization for my regular work daily driver. I have a 16" MacBook pro, but I also like to carry my headphones, notebook, and pens. There's still plenty more room leftover, which definitely makes me feel confident I could use this as a travel pack when the time comes without getting too bulky. Love having water bottle pockets on both sides so I can have a water bottle and umbrella with me.
