I preordered the 20L Toshi for my son for a gift in 2025. My shipping questions were answered directly by the owners! After it arrived and playing with it prior to wrapping, I was very impressed with it's quality. Fast forward to April 2026 on our trip to Japan. I'm lugging around an old, heavy 28L Ogio Bandit and while my son was loving his Toshi 20L. The capacity is perfect for a light packing weekend or a fully packed daily. So I had to get my own Toshi. I use it daily. It's the perfect size for me with plenty of space in the main compartment and just the right amount and layout of other storage. The dual sided front pouch comes in very handy too. I can't say enough good things about this pack.
Good quality bag. Compact.
I really like this Toshi. It looks great, not bulky and the build quality is great. I realized however, that I miss a passport hidden pocket on the back of the pack like I had on my previous Eastpak Tecum L 22L which I used mainly for pocket change in a way that easily accessible and separate from the rest or of course a passport when traveling. The second thing I miss is a way to attach a jacket. Yes there are carabiner attachment points, but I then need an extra attachment cord/carabiner but even with that, the jacket would be hanging and not hold in place like with two compression straps. I am not saying compression straps are the solution, either a removable net like on the Tropicfeel Nest (great backpack but matching my needs for organization/quick access pockets) or removable attachment accessories designed for the pack that could double secure a jacket, yoga mat, tripod. My final remark, to be ultra picky, would be a softer/microfiber fabric for the small pocket at the top which is where I store my shades or normal glasses. Overall I am extremely satisfied with my purchase and the elements listed above would only make this product my dream backpack but even without them I am a happy user and can highly recommend it.
I Travel a lot for work, though most of my trips are not much longer than 3 days. I have typically used a 14 year old NorthFace backpack (~40L) which is still my favorite bag. I have been looking to add a more work friendly bag, something ~20L, better fitting under airplane seats, and one that has a horizontal luggage strap across the back of the bag(why vertical, people? it's just not intuitive). I've ordered other bags (tumbuk2, bellroy, etc.) to test out but none of them were as elite as the Toshi where it matters most for me; packing efficiency. The pockets and organization are thoughtful. It provides elite organization without over-engineering where everything NEEDS to go; you have choices but they all make sense. The bag takes your dominate hand variable out of the equation. It's also spacious, but only when it needs to be. Again thoughtful construction allows the bag to naturally take on a small foot print and "fold in on itself" but in a structured manner, if that makes sense. I could say a lot more but I'll refrain from at this time. I'll definitely be focusing on how well this bag holds up throughout my next rounds of travel.
I used to have a 16l as my EDC bag and travel companion bag before I made this purchase. The layout of the Toshi works so much better for me. The bag has pockets for everything while not feeling too tightly organized. Evry pocket has purpose and use case. The material complaints I have read about online were not confirmed by me. The outer material feels quite sturdy and thick and the inner lining is thin but still feels robust. Only little suggestion I have is making the zippers more easily lockable like the Outbound series but really not a dealbreaker at all. Overall I'm really happy with my purchase.
Awesome backpack! Been looking for a solid travel bag for about a year and this checks all the boxes! High quality and durable with all the features I need and none I don’t. If you’re thinking about it, send it and get this bag!
