Unobstructed Top-Down Access
A swooped-back zipper on the top half ensures ease of top down access to items in the clam-shell main compartment.
Balanced Construction
Fully lined with a 210D ripstop nylon, and a 840D Nylon outer shell that balances weight and rigidity, with padding only where necessary to minimize bulk.
Two-Device Compartment
A padded divider in the false-bottomed laptop compartment fits devices up to 16" on each side.
Adaptive Volume Paneling
The 3D back panel design creates a buffer zone that flexes and expands with how much the bag is loaded out.

The Toshi 20L does a great job at filling the need I had for a daily office/work style of bag. It offers a durable construction and maintains key capabilities I wanted such as external water bottle pouches and a laptop compartment. It has good organization pouches within the bag that are practical and not overdone.
Other bags I have and regularly use include a GoRuck GR2 32L, Evergoods CPL 24, and Patagonia Black Hole Mini MLC. The Toshi 20L has been a great addition and excels again in that role of being a daily backpack for essentials. It's the perfect size for bringing items to work or school.
I've had the Toshi Pack 20L for a few days now and I'm genuinely impressed with what Rework has put together.
I work across multiple locations, which means my pack is essentially my mobile office. It needs to be reliable, organized, and comfortable enough to live on my back day in, day out. The Toshi is checking those boxes.
Build Quality
The 840D fabric strikes a nice balance — it feels tough and built for long-term use without being stiff or overly rigid. The YKK zippers open and close smoothly every time, which matters more than people give it credit for when you're in and out of the bag constantly throughout the day. My one small gripe here: the zipper pulls could be better. A paracord pull with a plastic tab would make access even easier and add a little character. A minor thing, but worth noting.
Carry & Comfort
Fully loaded — 14" work laptop, iPad Pro, and everything else that comes with working on the move — the pack rides well. The back panel and straps keep things comfortable even when the bag is at capacity, which isn't always a given at this size.
Organization & Capacity
There's room for everything I need to carry daily, and the laptop sleeve has space to spare — it would comfortably fit a larger machine if needed. Plenty of pockets to work with, though I'd personally love a bit more dedicated admin storage for things like pens, notebooks, and small accessories. Not a dealbreaker, but something I'd like to see refined. A 24L version would also be an interesting option for those who carry just a little more.
One Thing I'd Love to See
Coming from an EDC pack built around hook and loop panels for a fully customizable interior layout, I'd love to see Rework explore something like that in a future iteration. The Toshi's organization is good — but the ability to truly dial in your own setup would take it to another level.
The Ecosystem
Rework also makes a 5L and 6L sling, and I'm already thinking about picking one up. There are plenty of days — weekends, vacation, anytime I just need my iPad — where a smaller bag makes more sense, and staying within the same line is something I'd consider.
Bottom Line
It's early days, but the Toshi Pack 20L feels like a bag that was designed by people who actually carry things for a living. Strong materials, comfortable carry, and thoughtful enough organization to handle a real daily workload. A few refinements could make it exceptional — but as it stands, it's already earning its place as my everyday pack.
Simply Luv it! Can’t find anything wrong with this backpack. Size is perfect. Material is very durable. Style and look is minimalist and classy. Perfect in all Functional ways.
I started looking for a backpack that would be great for work and some light travel. I came across the Rework Outbound first, which I almost pulled the trigger on. However, I decided it might be too big to take to the office everyday. I ended up buying the Toshi, which is a perfect backpack for me.
I never feel like I have too little space, but I can fill it up nicely for an office or travel day. One of my favorite parts is the access pocket on the front, using it to store everyday items, like my ID badge for work.
Also, one selling point for me was the divider in the laptop compartment. I like to travel with both personal and work laptops, and this backpack makes that tremendously easy.
Overall, the backpack feels sturdy and well built. The material feels comfortable, and the backpack is relatively light. You can tell that a lot of thought and care went into making this a stellar backpack.
I love this bag and all the thought that clearly went into its excellent design. This has the organization I was looking for in a daily commute bag, and the features I was looking for (including two water bottle pockets). Unfortunately, the straps sit too wide on my shoulders unless I have the chest strap fastened, and I just am not a fan of chest straps. Sadly, I will be looking to send this back.
Exactly the model I was searching: not to big, lightweight and practical. Also it is well built. Hope it’ll last for years!
