Inspired by Tokyo
During our travels in Tokyo, we were inspired by the understated yet reliable infrastructure of the city. These qualities resonate with our approach to design and our vision of creating gear that is functional with low-key aesthetics, fully culminating in the Toshi Series.

Expands and Packs Flat
Extra care to ensure that its silhouette looks good whether it is packed to full capacity or flat with only a few items in it.
Space efficient Design
A flat rectangular base to maximize every inch of space at the bottom. The use of suspended pockets keep smaller items on top of bulky items, and out of the "crush zone".
Focus on Construction
Materials and hardware chosen carefully to maintain abrasion and weather resistance while keeping the sling relatively light.
Customize Your Way
Customizable strap configuration to suit your carry style. Modular key leash allows you to choose where your keys go.
Stay Secure
Keep your sling firmly in place with our stabilizing strap (sold separately), designed for active commuters who demand a reliable and secure carrying solution.

I ordered the ReWork Toshi v2 5L because I wanted a chest‑carry sling that could serve double duty:
- function as my personal item during air travel (it had to be a front-carry sling, because my carry-on is a backpack), and
- transition seamlessly into a compact day‑trip bag once I reach my destination.
After several trips with it, I can confidently say this sling nails that hybrid role better than anything else I’ve tried.
Size & Fit — Compact, Not Bulky
I’ll admit I was worried the 5L size would look oversized on my 5'11", 180lb frame — like wearing a mini‑backpack on my chest. Instead, the opposite happened. The Toshi v2 looks smaller than expected, especially considering how much it carries. Side‑by‑side with my Bellroy Venture Ready 2.5L, the footprint isn’t dramatically larger, yet the Toshi swallows more than double the gear. That efficiency alone makes it stand out.
Capacity & Loadout — Legitimately Useful Space
This bag hits the sweet spot for real travel carry. My typical loadout includes:
- 24oz Stanley Quick Flip Go bottle (fits inside the sling)
- phone
- battery bank
- charger cables
- wallet
- keys
- sunglasses
- travel documents
- snacks
And there’s still breathing room. The hidden, removable lash straps on the bottom are a brilliant touch — perfect for carrying an umbrella on unpredictable day trips. It’s one of those features you don’t think you need until you have it.
Organization — Thoughtful Without Being Fussy
The internal layout is dialed in. There are enough pockets to keep essentials sorted, but not so many that you’re fighting the bag. The open space in the main compartment makes it adaptable, and the two‑way zipper on the main pocket is a small but meaningful quality‑of‑life upgrade.
Build Quality & Materials — Durable and Refined
Everything about the construction feels intentional:
- materials that feel like they’ll last
- smooth, reliable zippers
- hardware that stays clipped and doesn’t feel cheap
- clean stitching and no loose threads
It’s the kind of build that inspires confidence without screaming for attention.
Comfort & Carry — Surprisingly Good, Even Fully Loaded
This was the biggest surprise. Even fully packed, the Toshi v2 carries comfortably — and that’s without the padded strap that comes on the 6L version. The ability to reposition the strap attachment points makes a noticeable difference in weight distribution and bag orientation. It’s one of those small design decisions that dramatically improves real‑world usability.
Aesthetic — Understated and Travel‑Friendly
The look is clean, minimal, and free of loud branding. It blends in anywhere — airports, city streets, cafés — without looking tactical or over‑designed. It’s the kind of bag that feels at home in any travel setup.
Two Suggestions for the v3
These aren’t deal‑breakers, but they’d elevate the next version:
- Interior label as a pen loop - If the Toshi label inside weren’t stitched all the way around — or if it were designed as a loop — it could double as a pen holder. A small usability upgrade.
- Zipper security loops - Adding small loops at the zipper ends would help deter pickpockets in crowded areas. A simple addition that would boost peace of mind.
Final Thoughts
I didn’t order the 6L for comparison, but honestly, I’m not sure it would add meaningful value for my needs. The 5L hits a near‑perfect balance of size, capacity, comfort, and versatility. It’s become my go‑to personal item for flights and my daily companion for short excursions once I land.
Thanks for making a great product — this one earns its place in my travel kit.
Love this sling and it's flexibility. The extra hidable straps in general are extremely useful for holding a jacket. I think only thing I would want that's missing is a zippered inner pocket in the main compartment but great otherwise
I got my 5L Toshi v2 original thinking it was too small. Contacted sorry and every thing for an exchange I then started to sort and pack my stuff different ways and didn't go through with the exchange. This thing is roomy. I'm glad I suck with it.
I'm 6'2", 230lbs, and wanted an edc sling but also something great for traveling abroad. I landed on the 5L and was a bit nervous about the size (thought it might be too big). Honestly, it's perfect. I have an Iphone Pro Max that has plenty of room in the front pocket. I can carry essentials like medical supplies, chargers, and a subcompact. It's super comfortable on the shoulder on long hikes, worn on the front or slung on back. It's black and fits in well downtown (looks modern, un-tactical). I live in the PNW with tons of rain and never had any dampness get in or soaking.
As far as the company/customer service, Jia emailed me back right away and then followed up with me the next day or so. The issue was with tracking not Rework. But I was shocked to have an email in my inbox from the owner and then Jia emailed me again to follow up? This is insane customer service in today's world!
While I do love the bag and will most likely wear it out for years to come. Jia is what won me over as a customer for life. :)
I just received the Toshi Sling 5L V2 a few days ago. It takes me a bit to get used to a new bag, but so far, I really like it. I probably could have gotten the smaller bag, but I like to have room in case I need something extra.
This is my first time spending a little bit more money on a bag to get one that wasn't super cheaply made. I must say, it is definitely worth it. I bring it everywhere with me and use it almost every day. I was debating between the 2.5 and 5, but ended up going with the 5. I was concerened about the size being too big because I also wanted to use it as a tech pouch to put in my 28L travel bag. The 5L fits perfectly and works great as a tech pouch! The 2.5L would've probably been alright as a tech pouch but not so great as an EDC sling (for me at least).
